Your tasks
The doctoral position is part of the subproject "Investigation of bidirectional inflammation-mediated associations between the presence of joint prostheses and periodontal and systemic diseases based on epidemiological studies" of the DFG Research Training Group GRK2901/1 SYLOBIO (Systemic and local reactions in intolerance to biomaterials for joint and skin lesions). This subproject focuses on the question of bidirectional relationships between the wearing or re-insertion of a joint prosthesis and subclinical changes or systemic diseases. To this end, existing epidemiological data from the population-based German National Cohort (NAKO), including 5-year follow-up data, and clinical data will be evaluated. During your three-year doctorate, you will evaluate potential risk factors for the revision of joint prostheses from different perspectives. The Research Training Program offers active exchange between students, lectures and seminars, yearly congress visits and regular retreat meetings. - Submitting data usage requests and coordinating data handling with the data transfer management of the NAKO
- Extensive data analysis and processing of results in cooperation with the project participants
- Publication of results in international journals; preparation of reports; preparation of presentations within and outside the Research Training Group
- Cooperation with national and international research partners
- Support of the PhD training program in GRK2901/1 SYLOBIO
- Preparation of research proposals
Our requirements
- Graduates holding an excellent university degree in mathematics, biomathematics, statistics, biostatistics, epidemiology, public health or related disciplines (final grade at least 2.5 or "good" (dentists))
- Ability to work in a team, communication skills, willingness to undergo further training, enjoy interdisciplinary work
- Independent working style and ability to work on new topics
- Wide-ranging training in statistical and epidemiological methods; basic understanding of medicine
- Very good knowledge of English
